It is with abundant joy that I write the first blog on our new website, on this new day, at the beginning of this new chapter of the Headfort Journey.
I have spent the past four months learning about the uniqueness of our school, teaching our beautiful students, and meeting our loyal and caring parents.
As we walk together into the New Year, it is my sincere hope that every member of our community has a peaceful Christmas and a gentle start 2026, safe in the knowledge that we are building something so special, so beautiful it will put education on the map in Ireland in so very many ways.
For us, as a community, we have much to look forward to.
The New Year will bring with it our new strategic direction, our adaptations to the curriculum, and our interior designs for the Boarding Wing.
We have much hope for the future.
I remember vividly when making the decision to move to Ireland how at peace I felt with the prospect of living in the place from which my ancestors hailed. This peace I have felt every day since my arrival as I have walked through the old gates to the sanctuary that is this school.
Away from the hopelessness we can feel in our world, separated from the social media that has suffocated our identities, removed from the rigid structures in a world made weary by the chaos that abounds – sits Headfort, sits our school.
A truly magical place where people exist in a space specifically carved out for creativity, for compassion and for critical thinking – a homage to the past where young people played and did so together free from fear.
And it is this notion of play, of freedom, of finding oneself in the forest that is ours, that we will define our future.
For we plan on creating a primary school second to none, in a space unparalleled in the whole of Ireland.
I thank every member of the community for your warm welcome, and I very much look forward to writing this next chapter with you.
Faithfully,
Lucy
